一、遗址现状：

商城遗址北靠邙山，南临洛水，东邻偃师市城区，西距汉魏故城10公里，西南距二里头遗址6公里，城址大体呈长方形，总面积约190万平方米。它是全国重点文物保护单位，也是我国已发现的商代城址中年代最早、规模最大、保存最完好的一座，被联合国教科文组织列为1983年17大发现之一。

城内布局展示了早期都城的轮廊。目前已找到城门7座（东西各3座，北1座）。东西城门的位置基本对称。城址内道衢纵横交错，已探出大路11条，东西向5条，南北向6条，路面宽约6-10米，道路与城门方位基本对应；城外尚有4.5米宽的环城路。城内中部偏南地势较高的平地上有三座小城，宫城居中，另两座分别位于宫城的西南角和东北角，即后来“紫禁城”的雏形，其中宫城平面基本呈正方形。宫城内有长宽各数十米的大型宫殿基址5处，在宫城内循东部偏北，是一处“四合院”式的宫殿建筑。这座殿庑建筑群，由堂、廊、庑、庭等单体建筑所组成，其建筑形制显然是继承二里头宫殿建筑发展而来，显示了商代宫殿建筑的基本格局，也奠定了中国宫廷建筑的基本形制。

二、开发内容：

在不破坏原貌的基础上，按照有关资料逐步开发，最终达到具有旅游观赏和实用价值（如可做商代影视基地等）的目的。

Shang Dynasty’s Capital’s Historic Site Preservation and Development Project

1.Status Quo of the Site

  The historic site of Shang Dynasty’s capital is located in the near south of Mang Mou-

ntain, north of Luo River,10 kilometers east of the ancient city of Han and Wei Dynasties,

and 6 kilometers northeast of Erlitou historic site. The remaining site shapes like a rectangle,1.90 million square meters in total area. It is a major historic and cultural site understate protection and also the earliest, biggest, and best preserved historic city site of Shang Dynasty.It is listed by UNESCO as one of the 17 discoveries of 1983.The layout of the city displays the framework of the earlier capitals. Now, 7 city gates have been discovered (3 respectively in the east and west, and 1 in the north). The locations of eastern and wes-tern city gates are basically symmetric. Paths and roads crisscross in the site. 11 roads have been discovered, with 5 running east and west and 6 running south and north.The pavement is 6 to 10 meters in width. Roads are corresponding with the city gates in position. There is still a ring road (4.5 meters in width) outside the city. There are 3 minor castles on the high terrain in the middle south of the city. The imperial castle is in the middle, and the rest two are respectively located in the southwest corner and northeast corner,which is the embryonic form of the later ‘Forbidden City’. And the imperial castle plane shapes generally like a square. There are five groundwork sites of great palaces inside the castle. Each one runs tens of meters both in length and width. In the east by north part of the ca-stle, there is a palace group like ‘quadrangle dwelling’. This palace architecture group is composed of single architectures like lobby, corridor, roofed corridors around a principal room, and court. It is very obvious that this architecture evolved from Erlitou palace,which embodies the basic layout of palace architecture of Shang Dynasty and sets a basic pa-ttern for Chinese palace architecture.

2. Developing Content

  Without destroying the original appearance, the site will be esxploited gradually accor-ding to some related documents. The final aim is to make it not only for appreciation but also for practical purposes (such as Shang Dynasty film shooting base).
